Legal Consultation

Our highly experienced legal and accounting team, made up of both UK and Greek trained professionals, is well versed with working with managers, corporate service providers, law firms and family offices globally and have a deep understanding of the standard of professionalism required.

The legal team is able to handle complex issues of law and insurance advising which we tackle both with our in-house legal team and international maritime legal or insurance experts on a case by case basis to ensure peace of mind for our clients.

We strive to ensure that the Owner’s advisors are fully aware of all aspects of any proposed solutions in order to allow for a fully transparent decision-making process. We intend to build long standing relationships with our clients, offering services built around the actual needs and goals of the Owner rather than providing one-off services perhaps not always in their best interests.

Greek charter licence

Our legal team is on hand to assist Owners and their teams with applying for GREEK CHARTER LICENCES advising on all legal and fiscal aspects involved in such a process. We are also trained to advise on all local cruising, fiscal and chartering regulations in place.

Yachts intending to commence and/or end charters in Greece must be in possession of a Greek charter licence.

OCEDA can guide Owners through the necessary process to apply for a Greek charter licence including:

  • Incorporating the appropriate structure necessary to apply for the licence depending on whether the Yacht is EU or non-EU flagged
  • Arranging for a survey of the Yacht to allow for the issuance of a Greek Foreign Commercial Yacht Inspection Certificate (PEXEPA)
  • Applying and filing for the Greek charter licence
  • Managing all necessary filing obligations and compliances with the local authorities

Timing wise we recommend clients to obtain advice at least 3-4 months in advance to proposed charter commencement date. This is to ensure the charter license is in place in time if the Owner decides to proceed.

What are the charter duration and booking lead time?

The charter duration depends on the yacht’s availability. A charter can last from 1 day (for some of the yachts) to more than a month, also depending on how long the charterer wants to charter. To ensure finding the perfect yacht for you we recommend that clients reach out to us at least 6 months in advance to the high season and up to three months in advance for off-peak season.
